Introduction

I am Sjonnie Boonstra, I like to describe myself as a digital engineer, because I operate at the intersection between engineering and development. With an educational background in structural engineering, I started my PhD researching optimization methods applied to building spatial design optimization for building physics and structural objectives, for which programming and automation were key. After obtaining my PhD in 2020, I was able to apply both my knowledge, skills, and interests in engineering and digital methods at ABT, the parent company of WindBASE.

What I do at Windbase

At Windbase I am mainly involved in developing and maintaining our automated pipelines for the generation of the advanced non-linear 3D FEM models, postprocessing of analysis results, and report generation.

I find it satisfying that with the Windbase approach we are groundbreaking in many terrains, saving material, cost, and CO2 while at the same time addressing the energy transition.
